Prayer is a way of participating in God's ongoing work in the world and aligning our will with God’s. It is a means of transformation and growth, both personally and communally, a means of grace.
I think part of my resistance to the “prayer request culture” if i can call it that is in that context it can become kind of virtue signaling/just the language spoken.
Thank you!!! This is a much more believable view of prayer. I get this. Well to the extent i get anything to do with God. I still recoil against people asking me to pray for things to change, especially if they are annoying types of christians lol, but I suppose it’s also a way of supporting them and showing love in addition to aligning ourselves with God’s work.
I appreciate your blog posts on prayer, especially as I'm so concerned about how much our divided country and world needs it. If we're all God's children, why are we so often at each others throats? Your posts help me to realize that personally, prayer should be a time for me to focus on how my relationship with God is going. It's rarely reverent enough , nor as appreciative as it should be - for this one additional day I get to live. .
Why Do We Pray?
I needed to hear this today. Thank you.
