A few weeks ago, I wrote an essay examining how we view the church. The nerdy-theology term for this is ecclesiology. In God Turned Toward Us, Retired United Methodist Bishop Will Willimon wrote that the church is “the peculiar way that the resurrected Christ takes up room in the world.” When asked to describe a local church, we often default to the words we use to describe our political affiliations: liberal or conservative.
The essay was an invitation to reclaim the Church’s ecclesiology. To return to an understanding of the Church not primarily as a collection of individuals but as a community reality shaped by the triune God.
invited me on the podcast to discuss the essay. Please read the essay, listen to the podcast, check out Dennis's great work, and comment below with your thoughts!
Your Church Isn’t Liberal or Conservative. It’s the Body of Christ
